Old Vettes - Fountain of Youth or Not - Are They a Key to Staying "Fit and Handsome"

Folks: Here's a theory that I have. I've owned 3 Vettes to date. As I look over the course of the time frames that I have owned them, they coincide neatly with times in my life when I have also been more physically fit. On the other side of the coin, when I didn't own and drive a Corvette regularly, I have tended to be slovene and pretty lazy about staying fit. I'm certainly no Brad Pitt, yet, when I own and drive a Vette regularly, I tend to skip the deserts and to work out regularly. My lovely wife agrees (yet, what does she know; she also thinks that Porsche guys are generally more appealing).

My theory is that, whether we know it or not, subjectively we realize that our Corvettes look great and that we too want to at least attempt to do them justice by looking the best that Mother Nature allows us to be. Your thoughts? Think about it; how many cool dudes do you see driving a ratty old Mini Van? Just my 2 cents. Best, Ned

An interesting theory, to be sure . . . In my case, at age 62 and owning both a C6 and a C1, I need to stay somewhat in shape just to get in and out of them!

I'm 6'2" & 172#, and still slide in and out of C2 with ease, C5 gets harder and harder.

        Wishful thinking at best.

My theory would be that when you were fat and lazy you had the money to purchase the Corvettes. Then you had no money to be fat and lazy anymore so you lost weight.

I wonder if we could get our primary physicians to write a prescription for us that says something like "Get one C1 or C2 Corvette and drive daily" - and..... then get our health insurance company to pay for it.

My theory is you might have a relationship issue.

If you actually had a prescription from an M.D....It becomes a medical deduction...at least that's what I would say when I got called in to explain it...of course, after they quit laughing and say no...it can't be tax fraud...as long as you can write the check for the additional tax and interest...you're done. But think, maybe they don't bother you for three years.

My 1960 is my fountain of youth. It was the second Corvette I ever owned and bought it at the age of 19. I'm 61 now and every time I drive it, I go back in time to when life was much simpler and society wasn't in the toilet.

Watch the formula 1 race in Monte Carlo. Look at all the yachts docked there with beautiful young women & all the old fat guys that own them. I don't think the girls give a rats ass what the guys look like.

It all sort of runs together. Is the first car missing the model year? Or is it a '67?

Yes it is a 67 435. It dose look a little confusing. I will fix it as I have sold some of the Corvettes after I moved to Az. I now have the 2 67'S the 70 454 & a 65 350 HP with TI & original paint conv. bought at new Harry Mann Chevy in LA & has the Harry Mann Corvette license plate frame.

Yah, we can write them, but no insurance company would fill them.
I suspect that it would fit under the "really, REALLY high" deductible.
