    New Holley was the answer

Some may recall a recent discussion about my rather poor performing1965 327/350 convertible. Despite carb rebuild, the
carb was problematic. a 2818 replacement from about 1970.

Well as a followup-a new Holley seems to have cured the issue. Good out of the box-a few tweaks and now the performance seems spot on.
Yet to get to WOT but expecting much better. Proper choke function etc.

Thanks to all for input. For others-don't be afraid to go with new!

That's good news. It's nice to hear the rest of the story.

Which model Holley did you choose? Did you find one with a hot air choke, or did you keep the modified electric choke set up?

yep bolt on very easy 600 CFM aluminum body light and pretty would have to check but 80457SA i believe, electric choke

Since drivability was the most important at this time, and carb it had was a replacement-seemed the best choice. If ever go to judging, we will do something else.

Like I said, nothing makes a car run like a NEW carburetor. NOTHING.
