Someone asked me about the hardware for fan shroud at the Ontario Regional.

Gene, none of the pictures you posted look like the correct nut. I know the original nuts were a " U " nut for the fan shroud.

Well not all C2 used the same hardware, do you have a GM part number? I perhaps have some references to those, also if used some place else that may help. And what year(s)! See 1965 Radiator shroud attaching clips below for some pictures

Gene, none of the pictures you posted look like the correct nut. I know the original nuts were a " U " nut for the fan shroud.

Look at PART # 62120 it's 5/16 square nut projection welded on J clip as original.

Here Are a few pics of the original J nut clips for 67 fan shroud.. I know that 65 are not the same

The "U" nut listed in the 1966 and 1967 Corvette assembly manuals (UPC 11-13, sheet A4) is GM # 3792259 and is listed in my vintage Chevrolet parts catalog in Gr. 8.143 with the description 5/16"-18 "J". According to Chevrolet Parts History GM # 3792259 was replaced with GM # 3958324 in May 1969.
