    C6 Interior White Haze

I have a 2013 Grand Sport Convertible that I purchased new, it has red/black int., it has less than 8000 miles on it and stays in the(dry) garage. When it sits for a few weeks without driving it, it gets this white baby powder look on the (black)dash and also on the red and black door panels. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to stop this from happening? I have it back at a Chevy dealer to show them, they had no idea what could have caused it. It will clean off with mild soap and warm water, I have tried several different interior products like the 303,etc. Just keeps returning after a few weeks.
    Thanks

There is a dealer service bulletin for this issue:

    Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on seeing a white film/residue on the IP pad and/or door trim panels. This is most noticeable on dark interior pads/panels.
The white film/residue condition may result from a variety of causes, including cleaning products or the bodily transfer of certain lotions, bug sprays, etc. Also, rubbing/bumping/resting any body parts on the pads/panels may cause this concern, particularly if the customer has dry skin.
Recommendation/InstructionsDoor panels and IP pads/assemblies should not be replaced for this concern. For proper cleaning, please follow the interior cleaning instruction found in the latest version of Corporate Bulletin Number 06-00-89-029: Interior Cleaning - Instrument Panel (IP), Hard or Plastic Surfaces, Seats, Carpet, Leather, Vinyl, Fabric Cleaner, Stain Remover, Restorer - Product Availability.

It is plasticizer migration from the vinyl. Cleans up easily. Chevrolet used the wrong chemicals when compounding the vinyl for the dash and door panels. I have the same issue on my 2007

It saddens me to read GM's stated cause for this condition. They know that's not the cause, just like all of us that have the problem do. I've been in the automotive interiors business since rocks were soft and clearly, it's a condition of the materials used, not a result of lotions, bug sprays or the like. As mentioned below, it's fogging that has amines coming out of the plastics. This is a known issue in the industry, and there are specifications that limit fogging.

My 2010 Grand Sport's red interior showed evidence of fogging on the graphite and the red vinyl surfaces. No trace of it on the leather or carpeted surfaces. Fogging shows on inside glass too when the materials emit the vapors to the passenger compartment. I wiped it with interior detailer, which I keep on the shelf in my garage.

I had to do it more on this car than on any other car I've ever owned (and that's a lot). In fairness, however, I also admit that this car sits, closed up tight, more than any other new car I've owned. After almost 6 years of ownership, it just crossed 6,000 miles on the odometer this season. Eventually, my fogging issue subsided and I used Griot's interior protectant, which richened the appearance of the vinyl without making it greasy or shiney.

        Hope this helps...

This condition has been happening for years especially with Toyota products. It's called building a car with CHEAP interior products.

Yup, that about sums it up. Every C6 that I have seen has this problem.

I agree. Same issue with my 2011 GS convertible.

Just clean with mild (Ivory) soap and water and wipe dry with microfiber. Then it's good for another few months.
