My 1998 is short two of the four rear license plate screws. Can someone suggest where I can buy two or more of these fasteners. I tried my Chevrolet dealer but he can't come up with a part number to even search for them. Any help will be appreciated. Pete LeClair, NCRS Number 59996

Joe - I looked up the part number that you referenced and that's not the right fastener for a 1998 corvette rear license plate. It's listed for a 2000 and newer. The one that I need is a bolt with attached washer.- Top

Re: C5 (1998) Correct License Plate Fasteners - Where do I find some
Pete------
GM never cataloged a license plate screw for 1997-1999. They started cataloging a license plate screw in in 2000 and specified it as applicable to 1997-2000. Of course, it might have been SERVICE for 1997-1999. In any event, since they never cataloged any screw for 1997-99 I have no way of knowing what screw was used.
The 9423101 is a slotted, pan head screw with no captive washer. If your screw is a small pan head with torx drive and a relatively large captive washer in black oxide finish, it sounds like a C4 rear license plate screw. Maybe they carried over.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Pete, take one of your lic. plate bolts to your local GM body shop. They should have bins of bolts to match up your bolt to. That's where I've had my best luck in finding bolts the parts people can't find.
You might have to by the body guy a coffee- Top

Anyone have a 1998 Corvette, that is not an NCRS Top Flight car, that would be willing to sell me their original license plate screws? You can easily replace with with after market screws that look much better than the original ones. Thanks- Top

Joe - I stand corrected. After looking at the Judging Manual some more I realized that you are correct. I was looking for the wrong screws. I bought 4 from my local Chevy dealer today and all is good. Thanks for sending me in the right direction. Pete NCRS #59996- Top
