1963 Fuel Injection ID Tag Stamping/Embossing

A friend asked this question, which I could not answer.

He has an early 63 FI car. He ordered a reproduction triangular foil ID tag for the fuel meter.

He wanted it stamped/embossed for a September, 62 built car, which he assumed would be the letter "I".

When the tag arrived, it was stamped with the letter "J" for September.

Was the letter "I" not used for September in the stamping/embossing of the triangular foil ID tag?

If it's incorrect, he wants to return it.

    Any help appreciated.

    TIA

Dr. Chuck, RP did not use the letter "I" on the inspection tag aka triangle foil tag. Therefore a September 62 tag would read "J2".

Thanks, JD. I "sorta" thought that was the case. I've always been confused about the use/non use of the letter "I" in castings, vs stampings, vs embossings, etc.

Wish someone made the correct right angle 65 inspection tag. All we have now is a triangle tag. John
