Just wondering what I have wrong here, last winter when I restored my engine compartment, I ordered the proper bracket to fasten the fan shroud to the rad support, but the holes didn't line up. I can see that the rad support was changed at one point, is it the wrong one?

Re: 1967 rad support
Thanks Wayne, but I drilled the new holes because that is where the bracket had to be to line up with the shroud, there was just no way to use the existing holes. I'm pretty sure I have the right fan shroud but maybe the rad support is wrong.- Top

Re: 1967 rad support
Dave(sorry sp?), pictures of the entire shroud would help to compare. BB right? Your profile says it's a '67 L71?
This is one I have here which I'm quite certain is a GM service replacement since the frame on the car was quite rusted and the original rad support likely would not have survived.
Before and after refinishing....

Dave
It looks like you have the correct bracket and support. The bracket needs to be moved back to its original position. It is the hole in the fan shroud that is in the wrong position. See attached picture.

Re: 1967 rad support
Thanks guys, the hole in my shroud was in the middle and there was never a hole off to the side. I guess I have the wrong shroud.- Top

Re: 1967 rad support
Dave, Yes that's unfortunate. I was thinking of a repair before you called it as those holes were wrong. Wayne was right, you have the "wrong" self fabricated support, but.....
.....just remove it, bevel the edges of the holes topside, back up the holes with some fiberglass mat and resin(you can sneak it in there with a right angled brush for the resin and right angled tweezers for the mat), lay in resin and chopped mat topside to fill the holes, sand it all smooth, and repaint the top rail the same shade of black, and you should be fine.
Or you could bring it to a welding shop and they could braze the holes with some plugs and nickel silver. Then sand and do the paint.
