    Frank,

I just looked at my AIM and it looks like that change is January 63 so your car may get the tape according to that information.

Maybe someone has a late car and can post a picture, I acquired the clip from a Corvair column.

Frank, just scratching my head. The dash harness has a tan wire leading to the connector. The horn wiring coming down the column was green. I think I see black wire?? Also, the clip you pictured looks flat, like it attaches to the main pedal support as opposed to roundish to attach to the vent cable. What do you have?

Here is a new one that is rounded.

I'm told the original horn wire from the steering column upper bearing were black. NOS replacements are green. That's what mine is. I made the clip in this thread. Most are more round at the attachment end. Many on the Corvette Forum have 63s that have the clip on the vent cable.

Frank, yes nice job on the clip. I'll do some research on the horn wire that rides the column.

Frank, I looked at my notes from 2004 when I restored the column. VIN 13XXX had a dark green wire. I just looked at my coupe VIN 20XXX and the wire is black. The dark green could have been a change by a prior owner. I'll keep looking.

The repro upper steering column bearings are crap. The '63 unique NOS bearings are hard to find but I managed to source two replacements. The difference is the connector and the width of the horn electrical contact area around the rim. I'm 99% sure originals had a black wire.... The NOS replacements have a green wire as shown (note the WIDE contact area).

When I was looking for a new bearing and wire I searched ebay for 1957 to 1963 Chevrolet. Best I can remember they are all the same, lots of NOS stuff out there for those cars.

All those other year (and other GM car) bearings I found were wrong (but could be made to work). They looked like this (note the narrow horn contact ring)... This is also what the vendors sell for 63 repros. As soon as you see the spring you know its wrong. 63 uses a collar.

Frank, I believe that is 100% correct.

I agree, #9664 Feb 27 build had black wire also.

Found some better photos of clip, wire, and bearing. The bearing on the right is a reproduction, totally different and would not fit so i re-used theoriginal. This PG car had 67,000 miles when acquired for wifey.
