    63 underdash horn wire

This has prob been asked about here a dozen times but the archives don't show me much.

Somewhere along the line the clip on the horn wire (shown in the picture) on my car has disappeared. The AIM picture of this area is a joke. Two questions.

Where does that wire clip to ? I've heard the hood cable bracket and the fresh air vent cable.....???

Does anybody know where I can get one ? I've looked at LICS and Dr. Rebuild - no joy.

    Thanks!

Frank, here's what I found under the dash on my early (1318) coupe. My clip appears to be a little different. Can't help with where to find one.- Rich

Frank, IIRC I was never able to read the AIM location of placement either. This is where it ended up based on the length of the wires.

Please ignore the non-original tie-wrap..... ....Car had aftermarket Air Conditioning.

We I got the car that clip assembly was just hanging in mid air but at least the metal clip was on the plastic housing.

If you can find the part# of that clip it may be something used on other vehicles of the era. But as I recall without the AIM handy, it's likely part of a assembly, by the looks of it, the main harness, not exactly sure. If part of that assembly, chances are no part number will be easily found.

What bugs me is I was sure there was one on the car when I first got it and wonder if I trashed it during the A/C install - but I cannot find it in any pictures I've taken over the years. Hopefully I wasn't that dumb - I never throw ANYthing out.

It IS part of an ass'y - no separate GM part number for it in the AIM. I may call Lectric Limited to see if they will sell me one. If not, I can fab up something from the metal stock I have laying around....won't be 100% but will look close and secure the wire(s).

            Frank,

Here's a pic from an old harness from a 63'. Tan wire on 63's for the horn.

On to the next thing - I see a clip on the steering column mast jacket securing the horn wire and turn signal cable in post #2 above.
But note item 27 (6" of tape) in my 63 AIM - that's how I secured those cables - is this another damn '63 month-to-month change ?

Frank the tape was the cloth type type sometime Home depot sells this.

So - are we sayin' its the cloth tape (per AIM) for '63 and not the clip in the red square in the attached pic ?

The clip is usually found on early cars and the tape replaced it.
