I think I will hold onto the original heel pad and sew it onto new carpet.

How do you like the Romeo carpet in terms of fit, 80/20 loop, welding, and such? Is it close to factory?
You asked Jeff. However, I did use the Romeo carpet.

The Romeo carpet is fine as far as reproduction carpet goes. I changed out the front from ACC to Romeo only because the heel pad is better than the others albeit still not totally correct. 70 did not have the dimmer pad. Carpet is a little fuzzy as Alan says but all in all it fit fine. I have been searching for an original 70 heel pad for about 7 years with no luck yet. If I find one I will likely change to ACC or Al Knock.

I think the Romeo carpet is good with 2 issues. I learned later that the passenger side carpet for an automatic car is somewhat different from a manual car. The carpet I got from Romeo fit very poorly on that side below the console. I eventually called Knock and he confirmed this and sent me a passenger side for automatic and it fit well. The other issue I (and others) had is in dealing with the company. It took 6 months to get the carpet and communications were terrible. I only persisted because of the claim that the heel pad has the IMCO on it which I now know that it is not as good as advertised. I think the quality is good and I did not have to add anything to the upper portion of the front piece to allow for the carpet fasteners as Don indicated. I did not have the original carpet to compare heel pads since I had replaced the original many years before.
