The 66 427 project i'm working on has a cracked rear end housing. My questions are.
1; is professional welding a good repair option? 2; a possible supplier that may have a used 66 427 3;08 housing,

Are you referring to the housing or the cover? The cover often cracks (usually due to improper installation of the spring) but I've not heard of a problem with housings cracking. In any event, I would not recommend trying to repair either a housing or a cover.
A good source for used housings and covers is Ikerd's Corvette of Bedford, IN.
