I am doing a frame off on a 1969 convertible with a 350/350. I am going through my pictures to check nuts and bolts for finishes. From pictures it looks like the bolts and washers that go through the supports and into the Alternator and AIR Pump are cad/zinc? I would appreciate it someone can confirm the finishes. Thanks for any comments. Steve

Steve-------
The alternator and AIR pump adjusting bolts and washers at the braces were zinc plated. However, the long bolt (5-1/4") that retains the AIR pump to the lower bracket was phosphate finished and the self-locking nut was zinc plated. The bolt that retained the alternator to the exhaust manifold had a plain finish (i.e. no plating after manufacture). Both were SAE grade 5 (GM 280-M) and had trimmed (i.e. "non-indented") heads. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I'm curious - if the JG covers these items, and there is a dispute, why are these questions not directed to the Class Team Leaders or the National Judging Chairman automatically? Why do they remain subject to "opinions" from members and not ANSWERS?- Top
