Re: Can my NCRS production date be wrong?
Well,
I guess I witnessed a few Firebirds with Camero hoods and the wrong color parts when I was welding the overhead at the Van Nuys plant in CA.
Yes, I had many different jobs in my life and about 3 at a time to get where I wanted to be in life. BUT what happened was that the cars were on small rail cars as they went down the line and to avoid dropping anything on them, out guys took them off the rails and moved them out of the way. This was all done after hours back in the 80's. The problem was that when they were put back on the rails they were not in the right order and the parts mix up was a disaster. They were assembling Pontiac and Chevrolet on the same line. What a surprise to see that the Firebird and Camero parts fit each other.
GMC had Chevrolet engines with Chevrolet on the valve covers and were serviced at Chevy, but when they made the small Cadillac and put a Chevy engine in it that didn't go over so well with the Caddy customers. Some said that the Cadillac was on a Chevelle frame.
