I need to buy 5 tires for my 65 for judging. I'm going with white walls and after studying data sheets and threads I'm left with a questions. Firestone , Goodyear (seems like a favorite) , and BF Goodrich seem like correct tires. BFG with 1 in WSW and the others with 7/8 WSW. All outside diameters are less than a 1/2 inch of each other ,G/Y being tallest and widest. BFG is the least expensive and G/Y is most expensive. There is close to a $100 difference per tire. Leads me to this question: The BFGoodrich has Silvertown on sidewall but does not say 660 or 770 per judging guide. Does that matter on point deduct or do all three tire mfg. score same when judging? Thanks Tim

Re: 65 tire choice ? minimal point deduct
Tim I think Kelsey tire has the closest tires for judging. They are Goodyear nylon cord made from the original goodyear molds . I bought my 775 blackwalls from them . The tires I bought from Cooker are goodrich polyglass gold lines and have load range B not two ply four ply rating .- Top

Re: 65 tire choice ? minimal point deduct
Agree with above. Goodyear Power Cushion tires are closest to original. The only deduction should be from the DOT markings. In 1965 the whitewall and goldline tires were 1/2" wider than the blackwalls and Coker does not take this into account. There are other differences as well, and Kelsey addresses all of them.- Top
