    '57 Frame- Brackets For Clutch

Hi, I was a member for a few years and then let it lapse for a few years. I just renewed since I now have a '57 project and just last week bought a '63 SWC that's been in a barn for 40 years. Lots of work ahead.
My question is on the clutch bracket placement on my '57 frame. My car was originally an automatic, and converted to a stick, but just had a homemade bracket for the clutch z-bar, and nothing for the spring. I have the correct brackets, and good dimensions to place and orient the main bracket, but I'm not so sure on the placement and orientation of the small spring bracket. I have a copy of the AIM page, but I want to double check and make sure I get it welded in the right spot. Does anyone have a frame or chassis they are working on that they could look at easily and possibly give me a couple of dimensions and the orientation of that small spring bracket?
    Thanks- Rich

Rich, When I get out to the shop later I have a '59 easily accessible and get a few pics and some marked up dimensions for you.

It'll help me too as I have to add that same bracket to a '62 pretty soon.

here you go with some pics. 1st group is to edge of bracket inboard at the weld to reference hole and zbar tower.

2nd group is from center of bracket hole(apx) to ref hole.

Ref hole is best since someone else did the tower, and you can check the tower to the hole too.

About 11 1/4" from edge of bracket to ref hole. About 5 1/4" to the rear tower edge.

about 11 5/8" to the ref hole

If you need more yell I'm 15 feet away from the car.

Rich, I don't have the hole you reference in my '57 frame! That is not a problem, though, as I am 99% sure on the tower bracket placement, where I came up with 5" from the brake line junction block bolt hole (center) to the inside tip of the bracket. The dimension I am concerned with is the distance from the tower bracket to the small bracket, which you have provided. I do have one question, though. From your pics the small bracket in your pics appears angled (bent) on the upper edge whereas the one I purchased is straight across (I'm not talking about the 45 degree angle built into the bracket). I'll try to post a pic.

Rich yes it's at a angle with the front tipped up a bit. This to keep the angle of the clothespin clip and gorilla spring in line. IIRC the AIM shows the angle.

001.jpgFinally got it to upload. Maybe it's just your pics, but your bracket seems to have a different shape to it. Either way, thanks so much for your pics and dimensions, Rich.

I think the one I took pics of may be bent. I'll look closer. I have 2 other C1's here I'll check also. Your bracket looks correct.

Found a few other file photos....
Not a closeup, but a '56. Same angle.

Another '56. Try to zoom(CTRL + in browser) or dowload and zoom there. Same angle as above. (CTRL 0 to go to default browser size)
