Question on "S" terminal on the selonoid; starter#1109052

MVC-002F.JPGMVC-001F.JPGMVC-003F.JPGHelping my friend change out his starter for a 1977 Corvette; pictures below. The picture you see is the finish
rebuilt starter from a local shop. If you notice the "S" terminal is closest to the engine block. I might be dreaming
but the old one (sent to the shop) had the "S" teminal closest to the outside of the vehical. Don't know if the older
selonoid was original or not. Question: Is it common to see the "S" terminal at various positions on the selonoid or
is it always closest to the engine block as shown?? Thanks in advance. Larry

Your photo is typical of all solenoids of that vintage I've seen. S terminal is at the 3 o'clock position, or closest to block when installed.

I've never seen a solenoid on which the "S" terminal was NOT the terminal closest to the block.

Thanks for the return comments. Perhaps the old selonoid was wired wrong and I assumed it was the "S" terminal(did not pay too much attention to it when we dropped it); works fine now. Larry
