I was wondering if I could have some opinions on installing the T-Top weather strip, the portion that has the nylon pins that you push into the roof panel, not the side piece that seals the door glass.
My seals are from Corvette Rubber Company and if I remember correctly they are the best you can get so that's what I'm going with. I've read that you are supposed to stretch the seal along the way as you insert the nylon pins so what I'm wondering is, how much should you have to stretch the seal?
If I install them this way I'm stretching each segment about a half inch or so to get the next pin to align with it's hold and this seems like a lot as the two corners tend to curl away from the panel due to the stress. Also if I were to install the seal like this I'd have about 6" or so to cut off at the end. Now if I lay the seal out where it would go without stress the pins won't line up but I'll only have to trim about and inch or so off of the end. This would require making new holes in the rubber seals and moving the pins so that they line up with the roof panel holes but to me at least this is the better way to install the seal.
What would you guys do here, reposition the pins in the seals so that I can install it with little to no stretching or just stretch it until each pins aligns and call it good?
Thanks
