I have received a question about what will be the maximum time delaying from the built date of the body on a St Louis 67 car and the final assembly date corresponding to the VIN of the car, I have been reading the past forums threads but no one gives a conclusive answer . I have read that some cars were taken out of the line for repairs purposes but all the time lags from days to weeks , can be possible to have a car waiting months??to go back to line. I have see a car tags with 4 month difference between the body date and the vin assigned correlated date . Let see what you can tell me. Thanks Harry

Thanks for your input, that thread was one that I have evaluate before make my post but as I explain is not conclusive about the standard, since stated in other thread you never know what the gm line workers will do when a problem arouse , so the retiring from the line was an option, but I cannot accept that the delay of placing back to be finished will take 4 months, on the other hands if both secuencial numbers , the body build date and the VIN were assigned after the first step then this gap on dates would never happen.
