283 casting block date help for a 59 built first day of production. New member.

Hello I am a new member. Let me start first by telling about my vette I just bought a month ago. It's a 1959 project missing engine and needing full restoration. 2 unique things I discovered about the car are 1st it was a 250hp fuelie, but missing the fuel injection. The 2nd cool thing is it is the 6th car built in 1959, 100006. Sept 2nd 1958 according to my research.

My question is I am trying to find a motor that would be a good match, what I have found is I need a 3737739 or a 3756519 made either June, July or August of 1958. From looking it seems like a hard date to find especially August which is what I would prefer. Does anyone know why August is hard, did they not make many. I found one over here (Washington state)that I thought was perfect. Only thing is the H stamp for August looks suspicious (its a 3756519) picture attached. Can anyone tell me their opinion, I am new to restoring a vette and want to do it right especially this rare one I believe. If it's not as rare I think let me know. I also attached a photo of my car. Please help, any and all advice would help. Thanks Tim

    Tim,

This will definitely be a fun project for you. As for engine info, and builder I would recommend Tom Luedeke from Classic Engine Company in Wisconsin. He does have a website called classicenginecompany.com. I was referred by a friend and am very very pleased with his work. He is a wealth of information on the engine portion. On the injection part contact John Degregory (can't remember his phone number). He is a NCRS member and is on here time to time. He is one of the best in the injection department. Both of these people are pros and are very passionate about corvettes. Also purchase a c1 judging manual from NCRS, and search this forum archives for extra info. These two tools will help make our project easier and fun. Good luck!!

I am restoring 1959 number 70. I got engine and heads from Tom Luedeke in Osh Kosh, WI. He sold me the 739 block. He does excellent work.
