Tires and the 6 Month Rule

Since my car is a '72 the date of an original tire can be determined. So, is a tire slightly out of the 6 month window (older)
subject to a point deduction, assuming everything else is correct? I know some items have a larger acceptable date range but I haven't been able to find specific information about tire dates. I've checked TM&J, Judging Manual, and archives!

    Thanks for the help,
    Chris

As I remember the pre-2000 DOT date codes, I didn't think it is possible to be sure about what decade they were in.

Chris, there are a few guys here on TDB that know how to read the codes, I Know that John Ballard is the exterior judge for 70/72 at the regional and national level events and I do not recall him looking that closely at the date of my72 spare tire, I went through the regional last year and although my spare is correct, just looking at a real deal tire it is sometimes easy to make a quick decision.

This is true but the correct tire was not made in any previous or subsequent decade.

Never seen an exemption for tires from the six month rule.
