73 Convertible Top Rear WS Question?

I'm having a problem with the rear weatherstrip that seals the top to the car. Each time that I put the top up after having it down, both corners of the weather strip come loose. Then I have to reinstall it using a small flat screwdriver (wrapped with vinyl tape) to get the WS back into the groove in the metal track. Is this a common issue? Should there be some WS adhesive applied? There is no sign of adhesive now. I believe there is a nylon type cord used on initial installation that you pull to get that "L" shaped edge on the WS to go into the "L" shaped metal track. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm worried that I'm going to start damaging the WS the more I do this. Thanks.

If the nylon cord is not all the way to the end you need to add some.
