I HAVE A DELCO REMY 1107649 STARTER IN MY CORE COLLECTION,DATE CODE 6D11,RED TAG,12 VOLT,THREE(3) HOLE NOSE UNIT W/ MECHANICAL LINK TYPE SOLENOID.DOES THIS STARTER HAVE C-1 CORVETTE APPLICATION?NCRS CORRECT OR NOT,ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.THANK YOU.
lewis: I think the starter you have is off a 56 chevy passenger car 265 cu. the correct starter for a 56 vette should be #1107627, so Ray is correct (not uesd in C1 corvettes as per NCRS spec guide)
My 1957 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Mar. 1957) lists GM # 1933903 as the starter part number for 55-56 ALL, CORV. (8 cyl.) 12 Volt (exc. H.T.) with the following description: "(less switch) (1107627 on n/plate)". This agrees with the stamped part number 1107627 as mentioned by Steve. The number 1107649 does not appear in any of the the descriptions of the other starter in the 1957 parts catalog.
I sold my 1956 Chevrolet Parts Catalog years ago. As Steve suggested it might be from a 1956 Chevrolet 265 with A.T. (see link below).
