Anybody got a 7 blade fan that is going to be at the National. My '65 could use a little cool down on the way home. Function over originality.

Wayne Gene is looking for fit and function, not original appearance. We will switch it out for better traffic running temperatures on the return Road Tour home from the National.- Top

Re: 7 Blade Fan for '65
Dan & Gene --- (hey, isn't that a '60s rock group ). I realize that it's impractical to unbolt and ship my fan, but if we were closer, the offer was valid. No, not going to the Denver Nationals, although it's an easy 2-day drive from Calgary. My 71-year old bones are kinda burnt out after a solo 6-day round trip a couple of weeks ago to Chicago; 3500 miles, set a lifetime record of 930 miles in one day (wasn't in a Corvette). Sounds like you will be attending the National. Take pictures; especially of those '65s (50th anniversary).
Obligatory technical content: here's a shot showing that fan installed in my '65 L76. I'm surprised at the clearance (shroud to blade tip) of about 2 fingers width. Would easily clear even if the blade tips weren't bent forward. NCRS '65 TIM&JG and GM engineering drawing in Noland's book show 18" diameter.

Re: 7 Blade Fan for '65
Wayne, thanks for posting the photo of the 7 bladed fan used on some 65's. It's an odd looking fan. We'll have a photo of it in the new '65 JG coming out soon. Gene, try the fan clutch eliminator. I installed one on my '65 and it helps keep the engine somewhat cooler during in-town driving.Region VII Director (serving members in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas).
