Voltage regulator conversion to solid state

Thought I saw someone advertising in the Driveline converting voltage regulators to solid state electronics.....however after going through 4 copies did not locate anything. Anyone know anything? Thanks.

        Michael,
Is this conversion for one of your midyears? If so, you can simply buy a Wells VR-715 solid state from any FLAPS (about $20). Remove the plastic cover (glued on) and install the Delco cover from your original voltage regulator with the two screws from the Delco. About a 5 minute job.

Absolutely -- did it on my '63.
If its on a C1 you are slam out of luck ... the only person in the world that made solid-state V/Rs for generator driven Corvettes died a couple of years ago in his mid-90s. I was lucky to snag two of the conversions before the gent passed away...one has been in my '61 for 5 years now.

Thanks Leif but that isn't the case. Just needing the name and contact info for the company or person.

Duh, completely missed it. Thanks guys.

                Nope, it's not for a C-1.

Mike, Bill Caldwell did my 63 regulator assy and converted it to solid state and does all the re-plating and painting of cover, super nice job and it looks as the original when looked at from the outside.

A lot of local guys swear by Bill Caldwell. The VR comes back looking and functioning perfectly, but with the modern electronic conversion. Quick turn around too. Besides that, he's a good guy.

Had Bill Caldwell restore the VR on ours a few months ago. Works perfectly and looks like new. Highly recommended.
