I realize these 1100882 alternators are rare, hard to find and not cheap. Were any specially made 1100882 alternators made out of gold? There is one currently advertised on Ebay for $6000.00 that may need repair or is that listing a typo?

It's amazing what value that some folks assign to a part number although, in this instance, the configuration of the alternator case halves is also pretty rare.
I've got a used 1100882 that I purchased years ago for "peanuts". It's not for sale, though. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1969 alternator 1100882 on Ebay
I sent an email asking if the price was a typo but so far no reply and its still listed. I have two of these, one matching my car and another dated slightly later. If this one sales, I and some other folks will be standing in line to offer theirs for sale. I will be willing to offer my spare little jewel for a little less just to be competitive. Actually, I was just curious if anyone had seen the AD or had any additional info? I guess I will set back and see what happens next. Thanks for the replies.- Top

My guess would be that this alternator will be for sale for a LONG time at this price. Unless there's some real "fish" out there, it will never sell at this price. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I would imagine John won't waste his time, replying to a question asking if the price is a typo. He's been around a long time so, I'm sure that is his price. That is a lot of money, for sure but, that's a rare alternator.Kramden- Top

Re: 1969 alternator 1100882 on Ebay
It's not like there are 20+ for sale on Ebay I didn't think a direct link was necessary. Just go to Ebay and type in 'corvette alternator 1100882' and it pops up. I have seen some of his other Ebay listings; this dude does offer some good desirable parts but when it comes to a reasonable price range he is awfully proud of those parts. In fact it makes Crane's parts look extremely reasonable.- Top

You will also note that many of his high dollar parts remain for sale for interminable lengths of time. Sometimes YEARS without selling. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

It's nothing personal, I wish this dude well if he sells these parts at his prices. It's just too bad that some of us aren't Jay Leno types when it comes to buying old car parts to keep some of these old cars running. The Cubans seem to make them go by improvising although not with many original parts.- Top

It was just a request, not a requirement. It just makes life easier for everyone that is interested in looking at it.
I did exactly what you suggested, and then copied and posted the link.
I too wonder why guys like this advertise these things for such outrageous prices. He can't really expect people to pay that, can he?

Re: 1969 alternator 1100882 on Ebay
Is that the right pulley for all 69 transistor ignition equipped engines? I suppose it's a small consideration as pulley's can be easily changed, but how about the cooling fan? As I recall from my eyesight memory, my son's 69 L-89 has a bigger diameter (deeper groove) HP pulley on his - more like the one on my 63 L-76 SHP. (but then maybe his engine won't rev as high as mine??)

No, it's not the correct pulley for most TI applications that would have used this alternator. However, this alternator could have been used for other 1969 61 amp applications. For a C-60 equipped application this could have been the correct pulley (I can't say, for sure, since I can't say, for certain, which pulley this is----there were 3 pulleys of this configuration which differed only slightly in OD).
The fan is not correct. I'm not familiar with any 1969 application that used a painted fan.
Also note that there's been some grinding performed on the slip ring case half in the area of the grounding lug. In my opinion, this damage is not restorable. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
