    1969 Interior Seat Questions

I'm in the process of doing some small projects to get my corvette into better condition. One thing I want to do is replace the seat covers among other interior items since the interior is original (from what I can tell) and needs some TLC. The seat covers I have are cloth with vinyl around the edges and the covers I have found online are all vinyl or leather. Are my seats correct for the car or an option that was available? Any info/help is always appreciated. Thanks!

No, they've probably been recovered at some point in time. The "standard" seats for 1969 were vinyl and called "Comfortweave" while the optional leather seats were only leather for the inserts. The rest of the seat was vinyl.

If you look at your trim tag (on the driver side door pillar), there will be a code indicating what seats your car originally came with. Look to the right of the "TRIM" to find the code and let us know what it is.

      Absolutely, positively NOT original.

Ok good to know, I didn't think much of the seats until I started looking at options to re-cover them. I always assumed they were original. The trim code on the pillar is 411.

Okay David, 411 is "standard" bright blue vinyl, so that's what you need to purchase.

Thanks! I never liked the corduroy seats, makes sliding in much harder.

In 1969 the leather seats were ALL leather no part of it was vinyl.

Then the latest (4th) edition of the 68-69 TIM&JG is wrong.

Leather seats were available as an option both years, but only the patterned inserts were leather. Outer, lower and side panels were vinyl. The leather pattern was identical to the vinyl Basketweave for 1968; however, the 1969 leather seats had smooth vertical panels.

I think it is wrong and I'm partially to blame since I was one of the reviewers of the manual. I just don't recollect that there was any vinyl used on the 1969 leather seats.

Thanks Joe. I always wondered why I couldn't find the "correct" leather/vinyl seat covers when I redid mine a few years ago! I had to go with the (what I thought was ) incorrect "all leather" covers.
