Converting From Western Wheels to KHs

I am planing on removing the currently used Western Wheel Knock Offs on my 66 and replacing with OEM KHs.
My ? is does anyone see a PROBLEM in leaving the Hub Adapters that are working Fine with the Westerns.
It looks like a big hassle to Remove the Adapters and then use the OEM adapters without a pry bar or similar to Stop hub from turning while removing the Lug Nuts... I know the Western Hub Adapters Have a slot for the soon to not be needed pins.. but other than that why not? Any Advice or thoughts appreciated I will have the OEM adapters but just getting all the wheels converted is a big enough job in itself without damaging something else or myself...Am I being lazy or more practical and realistic?? Thanks

    Neil,
in my opinion you should use ALL of the correct parts associated with KH wheels. Switching the adapters is an easy procedure and the KH adaptors are made for their wheels. Just follow the factory installation procedure exactly when installing them and the wheels.

Agree 100%. To hold the disk while removing the adapter bolts (say you're changing a flat and assuming your spare is not a KO), I carry a short (1.5" threaded length) 1/2" dia bolt in the tool pit or glove box. Insert in one of the finned vent holes in the disk; it will rotate and contact either end of the caliper. Better still is to use a short 3/8" ratchet extension, because its expanded head won't slip through the finned disk.

Can't use this method with drum brake cars, though. Need a helper to push hard on the brake pedal while loosening the adapter bolts in that situation.

Do Not Think Any Harm will come to The Caliper with the 1/2in. Bolt or 3/8 Extension Ratchet Method ? For Front wheelONLY or Rear also... For Rear Wheel If left in Gear is that a good idea to still use the Bolt or Ratchet? also?
PS Use Anti Seize on Spinner Threads ? or ONLY a Clean Thread for final assembly surface. Thanks to all who answered..

          Neil -

Use a film of anti-seize on the spinner threads, and on the conical contact surfaces where the spinners bear against the wheels.
