    C2 glove box lamp shield

Over the past winter I have acquired some shields that cover the glove box lamp. Yes, they all have the " 0 " stamped on them. I have two that are magnetic and three that are non-magnetic. The three that are not magnetic are brass with zinc plating. The two that are magnetic of course are steel with zinc plating. I am not trying to open a can of worms, but does anyone have a solid reason for using two different metals for the shield? Maybe the brass shield with zinc plating was used in the earlier years 1963 - 1964 or vice versa. Your input is greatly appreciated.

    Micheal,

Or maybe the GM engineering spec allowed suppliers to use either metal.

More than likely some earlier suppliers found it easier to work with brass and have them zinc plated!
Lets don't go with the earlier and later as the judging manual is bad enough already!

Joe, I was not trying to refer to the judging manual even though the 1966 judging manual does have a nice picture of the shield on page 28. This post was for my own research. I was asking members if anyone have come across the same thing I did with some shields being magnetic and some shields not being magnetic.

Michael - The GB light shield on our Sep 1966 built 1967 has the "o" & is magnetic.
I suggest you bring both when you have the car judged & ask the Interior judges which they prefer.

Peter, My 63, the LWC (little white car) has two stainless distributor shields wrapped up behind the seat so judges can pick what style they like.
            LOL.
Those pesky light shields sure do cause confusion as to which way they are supposed to point!!!!! Back to work. JD

Peter and John, this is not the reason why I started this post. I did not want to add any confusion to the judging process. I just wanted to know if any others came across this before. Peter, thank you for your input on your Sept. built 1967. I will add your info to my research.

Michael, all the interior judging I have done on C2's .I look for the O and grant full points. In my view I don't think that it matters as to what type of metal it is made of... Don't forget to turn the LS so it blocks the light from the drivers eyes... Good luck

Enzo, thank you. I am fully aware of the judging procedure and I did not want the type of metal to become a judging issue. I am trying to figure out whether both metals were used during the whole C2 production.
