70 LT-1 hood decal placement

The dimensions for placing the LT-1 decal on the hood found in the 70 assembly manual are ambiguois at the very least. The position shown for the forward end of the decal appears to be 2.69 inches forward of a projection of the rear edge of the chome hood trim. This seems to put the decal well forward of a likely position. Does anyone have a simpler placement guide?

Hi Patrick,
Here's a picture of original paint, stripe and decal on a hood.
It's from member Stan Falenski's Facebook page.
To my eye it appears the forward end of the decal is aligned with the trim.
It's obvious, as you posted, that the forward edge of the decal can't be 2.69" forward of the rear of the trim.
Perhaps there will be some other original examples for comparison.

Thanks Alan. That looks more like I remembered the placement. Perhaps one of the many LT-1 owners that participate in the TDB can post a picture of the driver's side decal.

Mine is a 1972, this picture is of the original paint and sticker prior to its first repaint in 2005.
i will try to find close ups of the left and right side, if I can find them, I'll come back and post them here.

Thanks Roy. The 72 looks about the same position as a 70 comparing your photo to Alan's. Does the 72 AIM still show the forward end of the decal 2.69 inches ahead of the straight edge of the chrome trime (which is not the position on the actual cars)?

Patrick, my 1972 AIM, upc LT-1, sheet B1, does show the measurement you refered to as 2.69 inches, there are quite a few other measurements as well with a note that a revision was made on 1-20-72.
I'm still looking for side shot close ups.

Not a real good pictures, but I can get better ones for you tomorrow.
Illinois Chapter has a Tech Session and a few low mileage LT-1's will be there.

Here is a different view in relation to the chrome inserts, stripes and LT-1 decals. Taken from 1970 with uneven width front white stripes and silver/black LT-1 decals.
