    Different RSC bumper bolts

I taking the bumpers off my 66 and noticed that one of the 7/16-14 x 1-1/4" RSC bumper bolts has a different font style on the head mark. I know the bumpers (as well as other things) have been apart on this car before and was curious if this odd man out bolt came from a different year car or if it was acceptable for a 66.

The typical head mark is on the left and the other is on the right.

    I would say acceptable.

      Jeremy,

I've looked at more than 50 original RSC bumper bolts, and I don't recall seeing any like the one on the right in your photo. A good person to ask would be John Meissinger or Rich Pasqualone. Between them, they have probably seen many hundreds of RSC bumper bolt.

The one on the left I'm familiar with the other, not. I suggest the one on the right is a reproduction or made outside the time frame of your car.

          Gene,

I've seen an example of a RWB head mark bolt that someone created from a new bolt using a CNC mill and that result resembles the RH image in Jeremy's photo. So, I agree with your assessment of repro (professional or amateur) or made outside the C2 timeframe.

Guys, I pretty sure that I have seen some of the these style head markings in the right side pic. cannot comment on which years or locations, but I think I have a few of these styles in my bolt collections. I think the real test is someone like Rich P.

The 67 BB auto with AC car I just got done restoring had bolt markings like that on the valve cover bolts

I found an older post from 2011 where Rich said there were actually two different fonts, though there wasn't a picture of it.

Both used on 65-66 early 67s The Small font on the right is much rarer but totally original.
