Here’s a photo of an original, early ‘63 tire lock, looking at the pad on the underside.
You’ll find that the pad is wider than the lock, and it will overhang the lock on both sides. The front of the LIC bag shows (in a poor cartoon sketch) how the pad is positioned on the lock.
Most original locks with original pads won’t still have the obvious overhangs on the two sides because the rubber becomes friable with age and the overhanging edges wear away.
One final comment is that the LIC reproduction pad is die cut from a sheet of foam and it’s lacking a bevel cut on the full width of the center third on the bottom in photo #2. The lack of that bevel cut was confirmed to me by Kim Cohen from LIC.
Thanks Gary, I started a Thread about finding a tumbler that will take the ignition/lock key. Do you have any? The aftermarket lock will not accept the ignition key groove.
