Need some guidance that is not real clear on the assembly manual. See photo attached. Can some confirm the center spare tire cover is placed in first then the side covers last therefore creating an overlap. Judged car, if anyone has a photo that would be great. this is a 58.
In the 4th photo, the rear panel is in first, then the side cover overlaps that. That little tab on the side cover appears to protrude so it makes sense to me.
THank you as always.. Big Help !! I thought it was interesting to see there was NO cut out for the antenna. My original has one then two other random holes on the passenger side. I am sure the holes where done by one of the old owners but the cut out for the antenna looks right. THe aftermarket parts show the cut out but the restoration photos for CK show NO cut out for the antenna.

Rich,
Won't be able to make it this year. Need to have some unexpected paint work done on the 58. It should be going in the shop late this week or next. Talk about a budget buster........... Have a great time!

Those are all I had Eric. It was being judged when I was there so I couldn't get in anyone's way,

I believe I have some of Rich's pics in there also as he sent me some for reference.
It was a neat car (they had trouble starting it on Friday if I recall correctly). One of those cars that when I got home I thought, I should have taken a picture of that and that and that......
My 60 is pretty original and I use that for a reference, but there were many things that the 58 has and the 60 doesn't. Always good to have a reference to look at.
Thanks Tom, so, was the area left open on the sides next to the fenders down to the bottom of the trunk floor pan?
Al,
There is a fiberglass tube that the rear tail pipe goes through mounted in this area. This tube is installed between the exhaust outlet hole in the body and the inside of the trunk. After 58 they changed to using a metal tube that the tail pipe goes through. Mine are not installed yet otherwise I'd take a picture.
The whole area, the bumper support access and the exhaust tube area were covered by a removable fiberglass panel as shown in some of the pictures in this post. In later years, there was no panel to cover the exhaust tube area and the bumper bracket was redesigned so there was no need for access. The trunk floor was solid in that area.

Cool.
That is interesting as best I can tell mine was March 18th. Looks like they were running just about the same number of cars at that time as I'm SN 5330.
