Astro Vent Door Seals in rear deck

I searched the site 12 ways to Sunday and couldn't find the answer I'm looking for.

1970 Non A/C coupe, I need to replace the Astro Vent door seals on the rear deck. How the heck do you remove it in order to replace the seals? The AIM shows the assembly, but isn't clear on how to remove it from the car. Or are the seals replaced without removing it from the car? Any help is appreciated.

        Alan & Ed,

Thank you very much. The assy is now on my bench. Looks like an easy job replacing the seals.

Hardest part will be vacuuming my original carpet of all the crud that fell on it when it came down! Thankfully, I thought ahead and removed my body from the car before I pried it off. Yuk!

          Hi Ed,
          I'd forgotten about that thread.
It's a good one for someone working on the rear astro-vent parts.
          Regards,

              Hi Pat!
Yes, this July. It's a Mulsanne blue/black vinyl 1970 300 4-speed coupe. 63000 mile car with rear defog, mono radio, factory alarm and most of it's original paint. Orig starter, alternator, radiator, shocks etc. Interior is 100% original and in cherry shape!
Car was 3 miles from my house.
Hoping to drive it to Carlisle this summer.
Good hearing from you as always.

Here are a few pics, Pat.
I have since replaced those tires....they were installed in 1987.
These are the only pictures I have at the moment.

I agree with Alan. That thread was a good one and helped me when restoring the Astro set up on my '72 convertible. Very clear and excellent photos. My project turned out perfectly, thanks to great threads and helpful people like this/these.

Yes, Jeff did a fantastic job in documenting the procedure. I bookmarked it because it's one of the projects I need to do on my 69. Neither of my doors will even open. I haven't done any detective work yet so it may be a lack of vacuum issue, stuck doors or a bad vacuum can.

                        Hi George,
I just saw your added pictures post.
It looks like you've found a nice 70 for yourself!
I hope it gives you a lot of pleasure.

Thanks for the kind words, Alan.
I've known Pat for a decade or more so I owed it to him to post a few pictures.

Thanks again to all for the help. Job is coming out well.
