    1986 Headlight Actuator Mount Bracket

I am trying to locate a headlight actuator mount bracket for a 1986 Corvette. Need the LH side.

I have run into a confusing batch of part numbers for this part.

Can anyone tell me if any (or all) of these part numbers are correct.

    16503953
    16503955
    16510405

Confused mind (my normal state) needs some clarification.

    Thanks

    Ed,

I have the mount bracket for a LH from the upgrade kit for the 84-86. It's part number is 16509993 3 whatever that means. If you need it you are welcome to the part. Ask Joe L. about the number and if it will fit. Can post a pic of the bracket if you need that.

If what you seek is a horseshoe-shaped bracket, it's like this: the original left side bracket was GM #16500345. This was discontinued in April, 1987 and replaced by GM #16503953. The latter was discontinued in April, 1992 and replaced by GM #16510405. Unfortunately, the latter has now been discontinued without supercession. Either the 16503953 or 16510405 may require slight modification to be used for your 1986 application.

I can't find that any SERVICE-released part of GM #16503955 ever existed.

        Joe;

I have some information that seems to indicate that GM part 16503953 MAY have a "casting number" of 16503955. I can't quite figure that scenario out. However 16503955 is clearly "cast" on the part. It is in a GM box marked 16503953.

I am going to take a guess a say it is the same part.

JR, I would like to take you up on that generous offer. I will send you a PM.

        Thanks guys.

From what I can find, bracket GM #16509993 was supplied only as part of actuator conversion kit GM #16517068. Since it was supplied with the kit with new design actuators, I am presuming that it is somehow different than the original bracket (GM #16500345). If it were the same, I suspect it would not have been necessary to supply it with the kit. However, I'm just surmising here; I don't know that it won't work with the original actuators.

By the way, the 84-87 actuator conversion kit GM #16517068 was recently discontinued with a final GM list price of almost 1600 bucks.

It makes complete sense that the GM PART #16503953 actuator would have had a casting number of 16503955. In fact, given that it's a casting, that's exactly the casting number I would expect it to have.

                Joe,
I recently sold my last kit but have several with the LH only headlights.

I sent Ed one of those and he said it was exactly what he wanted. The frames must be the same but were included with the kit because of the wiring as it looms thru the frame.
