Thanks Terry - so how do I know if this is original?
Define: know!
If it looks old. It has an old date code. You want proof of how old? I can't imagine how that will happen. If it looks like a duck, etc., etc...
If it's a Firestone and it has 9 sections of tread, including the outer two, it isn't reproduction. It has a 'short code' which indicates an earlier tire.
Hi,
In looking at Firestone RWL tires I've noticed a variation in the location and style of the information on the side walls.
Might this be an indication of slight changes in the molds as the years went by, or perhaps a difference in a tire used in St.Louis from a tire bought from a Firestone dealer?
Here's one of the more obvious examples
Regards,
Alan
Notice the F70-15 on each.
First is the spare from my 71
Second is a tire that appears to have had little or no use.
