Re: 65 365hp cooling fan 5 blade no A/C?
The original fan on my 1966 w/327 (built Feb. 1966) is stamped "H" (Hayes-Albion, the manufacturer) on the front and "W" on the back side on one of the "arms". The fan does not have the word "FRONT" stamped on it. The fan-clutch is stamped "SC 1-26-66" (Schwitzer, the manufacturer dated Jan. 26, 1966).
I have other Hayes-Albion fans from other Chevrolet models in my collection and some have the word "FRONT".

They're looking for FLAT head rivets now ? Believe this was off a '64. No FRONT or W on this one; just the H.- Top

I think the "W",or "H" is the manufacturer's ID. Just out of curiosity what year car is this fan in the photo from?- Top

) and boxes of other parts that they wanted to get rid of. Fan came with a nice 3770245 pulley (before they started to stamp the part #) and a decent clutch.

The current '65 JM has no mention of any stampings. Of course that may change when the next revision hits the street.
It does mention mushroom head rivets and the dimensions given by Jim in his original post.

Re: 65 365hp cooling fan 5 blade no A/C?
Jim, original '65 five bladed fans should not have the word FRONT on the face of the fan. When we researched for the re-write of the new '65 chassis section we discovered that either flat or mushroom headed rivets are original to '65.
Hope that helps.

Re: 65 365hp cooling fan 5 blade no A/C?
Tony . Why do you think the 65 BB fan did not have the word front ? I have one with & one without . If not what did it come off of ? was it a service part ? I thought the 65 BB fan was all by itself in size & pitch . What was the size and configuration of a 66 BB fan ? My fan was on my 65 when parked in 1973 with 31,000 miles . It also still had its orig. fan clutch , water pump ,shroud & radiator . If its not orig. to the car what do I have ???? Bill- Top

Fan GM #3872792 was used for 1965 L-78 and was unique to that application. However, it is very similar to fan GM #3888366 which was used for 1966-67 big blocks (as well as many 68-69 applications). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
