Top flight judging with rear window decal

I'm getting ready to have my c2 (first time) judged at a local show for a top flight award, I bought the car having an old rear window decal on it approx. 3"x5" it was pasted on the inside of the rear window off to the side of the rear window it's faded but looks to be some sort of Turista/registrataion with a 6-8 digit #on the stamp like the car was in mexico for sometime?
Here's my question does it need to come off, I kind of like having it there it gives the car some character,age/petina is this going to be a problem does it need to come off?
    Thanks
    Appreciate some input

My 63 has an old CanAm Challenge Cup decal in a similar position. I have chosen not to remove it as again it is part of the car's history. I have been through 4 chapter judgings and the last national judging. No judge has even mentioned the decal! As long as it doesn't cover the date stamp on the window you should be fine.

      Charles,
no way does your old decal "need" to come off nor should it come off if you like it. If you choose to have your car judged, you should only modify or change things that "you" choose to change. As Tim above says, a decal on your window that does not obscure the OEM markings should have no impact on judging that glass and even if it cost you a point or two out of 4510, who would care?

Thanks for all the replies, it's amazing where these cars have been and the history behind them, thanks again...

          Charles,
My 1970 has a Playboy sticker, which I applied, lower center of the rear glass. My car had its last judging in the early 1990s, but that sticker remained in place through Duntov, BowTie, NCCB Certification (aka Bloomington Gold), Survivor & Benchmark judging. It was in place as the car was displayed at the National in Kansas City last July, and is on the car today. I have to admit am only pretty sure about today, because I haven't seen the car since Kansas City, but I am confident it is still there.

I lost a point or two for it at some events and nothing at some others. At its final Duntov judging my daughter drew a playboy ***** on a page of the 1970 AIM that shows the coupe rear window so I could show the judges its authenticity. We all, including my daughter, had a good laugh about it.

Enjoy your car and its history, and respect that history. Most judges will also respect that history.

Could someone send me an email and explain why our 'bott censor thinks the word "b u n n y" should be censored. I want to keep up with all the latest perversions lest I make a faux pas in public.

I personally wouldn't remove under any circumstances. point or not. and I doubt you will get a deduct, unless it is obscuring the date code on the glass. leave it...my two cents. these cars represent history, and the sticker on your car is part of it's history. ARA

Well, I wasn't that old when I joined. It was the only Corvette Club that let you join without owning a Corvette and that was part of the attraction. Little did I know at the time . 2 mos from now it will be 25 years ago that I joined.

Leave it on. I remember the '72 442 my mom bought brand new with the metal Nortell Olds emblem on the trunk. I removed it and filled in the holes shortly after we got it. Now I think those dealer emblems are cool and my 175,000 mile '67 big block driver will keep its dealer emblem on for judging.
