Why a strange color on a bearing cap?

I know nothing about the history of this motor. It is presumed to be an original 72 LS5, and the numbers on the block support that. But why the strange color on the one connecting rod cap? All the others are what I expect them to look like. Any ideas?

Instant ID of a previous repair location?
