    Mobile 1 oil filter?

Does anyone use the Mobile 1 Extended Performance oil filter on their cars? Any opinions one way or another?

    Thanks

I haven't used one yet as I have a virtual lifetime supply of AC UPF-series filters. However, I do know a bit about the Mobil 1 filter. It is a synthetic media filter manufactured by Champion Laboratories, the manufacturer of many oil filters sold under various brand names. It has high quality internals such as steel end caps and steel center tube. I would have absolutely no qualms about using one.

      Pat,

Certainly I agree with Joe about the Mobil 1 products as I have used Mobil 1 in my 96 and have over 300,000 miles on the odometer.
BUT I have changed the oil and filter in the 96 every 5000 miles.
Why take a chance when the oil filters are just a few dollars and it takes less than 5 minutes to remove and replace it with a new CLEAN filter.
I feel that the combination of the Mobil 1 oil and changing the filter (Fram) has allowed me to put that many miles on the 96 with no major engine failures.

        Re: Mobile 1 oil filter?

Thanks guys, I just changed the oil in my 05 and was considering the Mobile 1 filter over the AC delco I typically use. What caught my attention is that the mobile 1 filter is advertised to allow better flow with synthetic oil in the filter and reduce oil pressure. In the 05 my oil pressure (Mobile 1) ranges from 35- 52psi. My experience with my 88 with Mobile 1 is the 28-42psi range. Granted these are two completely different motors, I am not concerned with the psi in the 05. The notion of a filter for synthetic makes sense. I think next change I will give it a try.
        Thanks again

I have used the Mobil 1 oil filter and Mobil 1 5W30 oil in my 1996 LT4 since it was new. Don't have the mileage Joe Ray has accumulated on his 1996. Change the oil and filter every year since I don't accumulate enough miles in the one year between changes. In 18 years have not reached 50K.

Hears a oil filter one for ya!
A 1958 chevy with a 283 was on my rack and the W/O required a oil change. There was no canister or any other type of filter. Just a concave plate and gasket with the bolt in the middle to hold it in place.
I was told that the filter was an option. I could believe that on the 235 6 cylinder but the 283 V8 !!
