    '55 - '62 Driveshaft Stencil

    I've read Tripoli's book. But I still can't determine:

    1. At what end of the driveshaft was the stencil? The transmission end? Or, the differential end?
    2. Which way did the number read? Front to back? Or, back to front?
    3. Tripoli's book has an illustration (on page 70) that seems to show that the number was stenciled twice. Once reading one way. The other instance reading the other way. That doesn't seem right to me. No one in the archives mentioned that.

On mine it was towards the transmission reading front to back. Only one number stenciled. My number appeared after I had the driveshaft hot-tanked to clean it. The numbers were clearly visible and began about 9.5" from the transmission end of the shaft and in line with the small balance weight that was welded at that end. I tried to upload photos but have been having difficulty with the site today doing so.
