Did GM Install "870" Blocks in Passengers Cars???

I have what I believe to be a 1962 327 cubic inch passenger car engine. It is an 870 block and has an assembly stamp of F0706R, no VIN and factory broach marks. See attached pictures. Is this a passener car engine? I am trying to decide what to do with it.Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks,James West

Yes, it's either a very late 1962 full size 327/250 with manual transmission, or a very early 1963 full size 327/250 with manual transmission.

I have seen many 870 blocks of that era, both Saginaw and Flint. Add and F to the R and put in dome pistons and have some fun!
      It's a good life!

This is interesting Jim. I also have a 1962 870 block, cast date of F282. Pad stamp is F0702RE - from a 340HP Corvette. Cast the same day as yours and assembled 4 days before yours. I have a VIN stamp of 2114062. This block has very good broach marks.

I have owned this block since the mid 60s.
