I'm confused - the assembly manual shows both an "L" shaped capacitor bracket and a second accelerator spring bracket mounted to the coil bracket mount point on the adaptor plate. Can someone post a photo of how these appear on your car? Thanks.

Re: C-1 Fuel Injection Coil Bracket pics
To re-phrase my question, the AIM shows a radio capacitor bracket mounted to the coil bracket mount and the accelerator bracket return spring appears to mount at the same position. Do both brackets mount above the coil bracket held by a single bolt? If so, what the the orientation and sequence of the brackets?Keith MacRae

Not getting much help here...Can anyone explain how the capacitor and accelerator brackets attach to the coil bracket on a hi-horse FI C-1?Keith MacRae

Re: C-1 Fuel Injection Coil Bracket pics
Sorry about your frustration, but many of the C1 Fuelie owners are probably up at Carlisle.
I can describe how they were mounted on a 62 Fuelie my son just sold. It had been Top Flighted several times, including most recently in. November Chapter meet here in Florida.
On that one; the coil mounts in a bracket to the intake nanifold. The tapped holes are on say a 60 degree position. Then, while the bolts were still loose, the capacitor "L" bracket was slipped under the inner mounting bolt on top of the coil bracket and positioned so as to allow the capacitor to clear the distributor cap. The coil terminals were positioned parallel to the engine (north/ south position) with positive terminal to the front, negative to the rear. The inner bolt was then tightened finger tight. Then the throttle return spring "L" bracket was slipped under the outer bolt on top of the coil bracket and positioned with the bracket parallel with the engine and the throttle return spring hole in line with the spring mounting hole on the throttle arm (north/ south positioned), then both "L" brackets were tightened along with the coil bracket. The lug on the capacitor is attached to the negative terminal, and the throttle return spring is applied.
That's the way it was on a 62 Fuelie, as best I can recall.

Re: C-1 Fuel Injection Coil Bracket pics
Keith, Here is a picture of my '60 with a 320 unit. Since no one else has responded it does show the coil and spring brackets (no capacitor and not totally correct). I hope it helps, Don H.

Re: C-1 Fuel Injection Coil Bracket pics
Nice Pics Rev Mike.
Back from Corvette Carlisle. Hard a hard time logging in here but have it straight now.
Keith, As Mikes pic show the two b rackets are sandwiched together. Both brackets are somewhat L-shaped and face one another. Now if you have a repro accelerator return spring bracket you have to massage it a tad on the grinding wheel where the bolt hole area goes. Stu's explantion is very good.
Don Heckenberg, Your setup is incorrect. See Mike's for proper orientaion of the bracket. And you only should have spring. The blue spring is for 63 to 65.
Your other spring has been massaged.
Rule of thumb: All 57 to 65's use ONE accelerator return spring. John D.- Top

Re: C-1 Fuel Injection Coil Bracket pics
John;
Nice to see you on the board again, back from Carlisle. Hope the show worked out well for you. Sorry we had to miss the show this year, and a chance to see some of our old friends again. We had some further ignition and injector issues to address on the 62 Fuelie before we could deliver it to the new owner upstate.
The coil, throttle return spring, and capacitor mounting brackets I described in my previous post here were based on my observations of this 62 Fuelie (which was just top flight inspected) as we disassembled it to do some upgrades that were requested by the new owner. The position of the coil and the brackets were returned to those that we had photographed on disassembly.
A number of items still leave us with questions in our minds, i.e. This car's ignition system had only one power input source to the coil + terminal and that was through the ballast resistor? With the ignition switch "ON ", at cold start, the voltage at either side of the resistor was 12.2 volts. The same was true when the switch was turned to the "START" position (with some drop for load). After a period of warm up, the voltage on the coil side of the resistor dropped to near 8 volts. There was no 12 volt by-pass through the starter as I am used to with my C-2! Is this correct?
This 62 injector did have a throttle plate (idle) adjustment screw at the bottom of the air meter, but not like we expected from our reading of ST-12 (instead of long screw with a lock nut, this unit had a short screw inside the threaded hole, and another screw that was inserted to lock against the first screw - both with Allen heads).
Due to the fact that this car had only 1000 miles added on the odometer since engine rebuild (and frame off), we expected some problems making it road worthy, including the added contamination of Ethanol in the fuel system. We followed the advice from some of our friends here "to help free up the spill valve" and added two cans of Sea Foam to the tank and six gallons of Ethanol laced premium pump gas. Boy! We were not disappointed! This poor injector hunted all over Florida for a safe and sane idle speed! We finally concluded this was the problem and not our ineptitude with our adjustments. We filled the tank (on the final leg of our delivery drive) with non-Ethanol 93 Octane and ran the engine some more. Upon our arrival at the new owner's home, we started her up again and like a miracle it ran like a top. We did some final air and fuel adjustments to arrive at a very steady 900 RPM idle. What is it they say about the medicine being awful, but the return to good health is worth it?
