    Heater core removal 77 car

After removing the blower motor assembly do we have to drill out the pop rivets in the passenger compartment to remove the core?

No, but you will need to remove the heater duct from the passenger compartment which is a pain.

The heater core is held in the duct by a small bracket on one end and a spring(that does not need to be removed) on the other end.

I did my 78 a few years ago and to ease the work, I removed the passenger seat to create room to remove the glove box, duct work, console, etc and access the heater box and core. Of course, in 77 you don't have the glove box and not sure how much of the dash you'll have to remove to get to duct work and heater core.

This is turning into a project. The heater removal involves the right upper dash pad,and lower console valance. The instrument cluster and radio should be removed also to eliminate any broken ducts and hardware. The sad thing is parts are not available, that is correct fitting. The non ac heater core I purchased had the correct GM part number but the core it self was not the correct size. I did find a business called the radiator doctor in east Hartford CT who n knew at a glance it was the wrong part. He is providing me with one for $90.00 and will solder the two necks for added protection. I am thinking that in each state a list of local small shops should be listed in one of our monthly Corvette Restorer Magazines. They are out there and there knowledge saves a lot of time. I could be driving my car now not working on it this summer.
