I just joined the NCRS and am starting to restore my 1965 convertible. Original engine is long gone before 1975 when I bought the car. So as I learn more, I know I need to find the correct 327 engine with the correct casting date that would be in my car. The restoration guide for 65 is not yet available so I'll throw it out there to the experts. What day would my car have been assembled? The vin is 194675S119607. Car was a 365 HP and the replacement engine had most of the original accessories on it such as second idler pulley , alternator with large pulley , intake etc. carb is gone and I have to check the distributor. Anyway if anyone can get me started on the assembly date that would be appreciated. Thanks Tim

Re: Assembly date of my 1965 corvette
Tim, According to the NCRS Birthday Book your car was built June 10, 1965. The block casting date should be less than 6 months before that (for judging) but was typically 1 month or less. Good luck, Don H.- Top

Re: Assembly date of my 1965 corvette
Thanks, I was getting confused because of the black book showed the sequence number range in February but when I looked at the corvette restoration guide vol 2 it showed a close sequence number to mine in June with an HH engine. Makes since that I had a June baby and not a March one. Thanks very much Tim- Top

If you want to know with certainty the date, plus other info, like the dealer it was delivered to, I would suggest you buy the NCRS Shipping Report here:

Re: Assembly date of my 1965 corvette
Thanks, took your advice and just ordered it. Car should show up as purchased in Connecticut somewhere, if story is true it originally belonged to a Yale professor. I met owner number 2 just by luck who bought it in an estate purchase. These cars have fascinating stories to tell if research is possible...thanks again. Great help!!- Top

Jim, Maybe you can get me straight on what the serial numbers are suppose to show on the front pad. Seems simple until I start reading different explanations- Top
