I have a 1969, October build convertible that I am doing a frame off restoration on and have questions on the Upper A-Arm. In the new JG there seems to be a discrepancy on finish on the shaft. On p.97 it states that IF the shaft is painted then the large washer and bolt would be painted. On p. 101, the Table has the large washers as natural. Then on p. 108, the shaft is called out as semi-gloss. The shaft did have 'some' paint present but the large washer did not seem to be painted and had some surface rust.At this point, I can go either way on finish. This is one job that I would not like to do again so any comments/suggestions on which way to go would be greatly appreciated.Steve

Re: 1969 A-Arm Finish(s)
Steve, the safe way to attack this is to paint the arms only and leave the shaft and bolts and washers natural. they can be painted later if need be. I think the 70/72 JM is worded the same as 68/69. I went through a regional event with the shafts and bolts NOT painted black and no deduct. And had a satin clear on the bare surfaces to help keep Rust away.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
