    61 seat belt buckle re-assembly

    buckle2.JPG

Amnesia. I am trying to re-assemble seat belt buckle. the steel piece in the upper center of the buckle just flops around (see picture). When I assemble with the bolt and spring for the latch cover this piece has no tension on it that forces it through the tongue on the other side of the seat belt. Did I lose a spring?

    Tom,

There should be a small coil spring that keeps downward pressure on the small latch part, at least that's according to some old buckles I have.

Larry:Thank-you, you saved my sanity. I had the belts re-webbed and re-chromed by a service (that is quite well known) and they came back to me with the flippers unpainted (I sent them in painted) and with those springs missing. I see the springs are available from several vendors.Tom
