I was looking at my arm rest for my 59 and noticed that the stitching on the seams does not appear to be as what is the judging guide. I found my originals, but the plastic was broken and badly distorted, however they vinyl is in decent shape. I purchased a repair kit several years ago and it came with new vinyl and foam rubber for a backing. It tried to install the foam and then the reproduction vinyl and of course it doesn't fit. After taking apart one of the originals, it still had the factory hog rings holding the vinyl together, I did not find any padding. Maybe it just turned to dust or there was never any there to begin with. After carefully examine the original vinyl, it fits the new plastic pretty well without padding and no wrinkles. The question is was there any padding on the originals and if so how thick is it. BTW, the re-prop vinyl has wrinkles on the curved area when installed.
