A question has come up about the steel wheels used on 1956 Corvettes. I understand that these wheels were welded, but were all 1956 Corvette wheels manufactured by Kelsey Hayes.I have a set of 15 x 5 steel wheels that were original on a late production 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air. They are welded wheels, but they are marked "G" "M" on the front, with the letters on each side of one of the wheel stud holes. They do not have any other markings; no date code; nothing. The wheels have the nubs to hold the full size wheel covers.Possible for Corvette applications?

Re: C1 15 x 5 steel wheels
Ed,
All Corvette factory installed wheels were KH wheels. There were 3 KH plants IIRC; 2 in Michigan and 1 in Canada.
Motor Wheel Corp also made wheels to GM specs. Motor Wheel Corp riveted wheel part # X40078, welded wheel part # X40019
