        Re: 091 coil

The only people who have ever told me the 091 was originally at the top were trying to sell me one with the 091 at the top!

          Re: 091 coil

Dan, This a interesting question, My 63 has a 091 coil and is marked at the bottom, But have heard that they are marked both ways. Cannot say why they are.

Ed a 63 091 coil is not quite the same as a 57 coil

I was wondering about that David, In 63 the judging guide says 091 is on the top, but the topic was a few years back on the TDB stating it could be both ways????

                  Re: 091 coil

I can't speak to '63, but right up to and including 1962 coils had the 091 at the bottom of the coil.

                  Regards,

                  Dennis

Mike, I thought at least 1 was a 283 HP, wouldn't that be a #107 for a 283 HP? Hard to keep track of your "collection".

                        Re: 091 coil

I believe all original 091 coils have the 091 @ the bottom, never @ the top. But the 63s differ as they have a "boss" inboard of the terminals on the top. Wish I had a photo but I don't.
The two most recent JDs do not state the placement of the 091.

barry: u caught me. i didn't fully read dan patchs initial post. all 3 of our 57's are FI's so all 3 have the 107 coils. the 57 pass car fi is a 250 HP and the black 57 is a 250 powerglide. the white 57 is a 283HP 4 speed. so all three take the 107 coil. regards, mike
