Can someone recommend a tag restoration service?

I have an 'original Florida state tag' issued ( Duval County) in 1966 where my car was delivered and in which I live. I can get the tag 'certified for use' by the state provided it is like original condition. The tag I have is in good condition physically but does need to be painted to include correct background color and reflective numbers paint.
    Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I'd google the subject. There are many license tag collectors that specialize in that across the nation.... probably a few in Florida

A few years ago, I used a company called Mojo Artworks for a '62 tag. They did a nice job, although I would not say it was perfect. I also don't know if they'll do reflective paint, as their website implies they don't. Mine wasn't reflective to start with, so that wasn't an issue.

The "safest" way to do it seems to be to send the tag to Tallahassee to have it certified, then have it restored. If it looks too good, I hear it can get rejected. Even before that, you can check online to make sure the number is available to be registered:

This is true. This is from the Florida Request for Authentication of a License Plate form, "License plates that are submitted for authentication cannot be refurbished in any way and must be legible for law enforcement purposes."

Any indication that the plate has been restored will cause it to be rejected.

          No restoration! That sucks.

I any case the way I deal with it is to strip the paint, take the dents out, prime and paint the background color using a rattle can that closely matches the original. DMV folks don't know old plates so they won't know if the paint color is slightly off. Then take it to a sign painter or pinstriper to do the lettering. They do it freehand. Charge about $25
